X-Gen BodyWand Original

A few months ago I finally got my very own Hitachi, an event that was long overdue.  This month, I’ve gotten the chance to try out a vibrator that is similar in many ways, the BodyWand.  As you can see from the picture, they design and shape of the BodyWand is very similar to the Hitachi. They’re both around a foot long (BodyWand is 13 inches and Hitachi is 12.5 inches), have flexible tennis ball sized heads and approximately 6 foot power cords.

So what’s different about them?  The Hitachi has only 2 settings, high and low, which are accessed by a toggle switch. The BodyWand is turned on with a wheel dial. To turn it on you roll the dial down towards the end that the cord is attached. To increase vibration you just keep turning the dial and to turn it down or off you roll it the opposite direction.  You get a lot more range in vibration, including the option to have a lower setting if the low on the Hitachi is too much for you at times or all the time.  The other thing that is different about them is they type of vibration they have.  The Hitachi seems to have a more thuddy vibration whereas the BodyWand is a bit more buzzy. As a result, the vibrations in the lower settings are a little bit quieter but once you scroll up to the highest setting they are pretty comparable.  Another thing different between the two is the texture of the heads.  The BodyWand has a firm soft-touch thermoplastic elastomer head with 5 lines around it. The Hitachi has a softer, spongier type head with a single grooved line around the center of it.  One last difference that I noticed is that the BodyWand has holes on the back side to allow for ventilation.  I don’t think I’ll ever run my Hitachi long enough to need ventilation, but I did have a Fairy Mini Mini that was pretty similar to the BodyWand that ended up overheating and dying, so I’m happy to see the vents.

Here they are side by side.

As far as power comparison…the low setting of the Hitachi is equal to about the halfway mark of the dial on the BodyWand.  If you are a power queen, the high settings are pretty comparable.  So this is a great option for anyone who likes the power of the Hitachi but also likes to have less intense vibrations at times.  I’m definitely keeping it close at hand!

My preferred way to clean either is warm water and anti-bacterial soap on the head of the device.  Make sure it isn’t plugged in and keep the body of the vibrator out of the water.  You can also use toy cleaner or wipes, which will eliminate the water concern all together.

So, either one is going to pull orgasms from you at an impressive rate.  The only thing you need to decide is if you’d like the dial control or the toggle switch!
