Baby Bug

The Baby Bug is a silicone vibrator made by Fun Factory that comes in awesome bright green color, as well as a bright red and a dark magenta.  Over time, you’ll see a pattern of color choices in my toy selection.  If green is a choice, it’s what I’ll take!  I purchased my Baby Bug from SheVibe after I had been drooling over it for several months.  Seriously, the color alone had me eying this for what felt like ages.

The Baby Bug I have is slightly different from the one pictured above.  Mine actually has a gray battery compartment instead of black but everything else is the same.  The silicone is soft and plush with a little bit of resistance when you run your finger along it.  The total length of the Bug is 4.5 inches with approximately 4 inches in circumference, it’s a pretty small vibrator.  The Bug has a little face with eyebrows, eyes, a pronounced bump for the nose and a line for the mouth.  There are 3 sets of legs that run down the body to provide some additional texture and a total of 4 bulges that make up the ‘body’.  If faces and the mention of  the Bug’s ‘body’ skeeves you out, don’t worry, you won’t be thinking about that when you’re using it.

The Bug takes 2 AAA batteries which you insert by rotating the bottom to remove the battery cover.  The battery receptacle is marked to show which way the batteries should be inserted.  This sounds like it should be simple enough, but sadly I had to admit defeat when it came to putting batteries into a vibrator!  Words I never thought I’d say.  Anyways, after an exchange for a new Bug and another email to SheVibe customer service (who were amazing, by the way) I finally figured it out.  Here’s what happened, so you can hopefully avoid a similar situation: The first time I put the batteries in, I matched them up with the pictures on the battery compartment, but when I turned the lid to close it and then pressed the buttons nothing happened.  So, my first thought was ‘Hmm, must have misunderstood the images on the battery compartment’.  I turned them around and put the cap on, pressed the ‘+’ button which resulted in a steady vibration of medium strength that did not respond to the buttons and would only shut off if I unscrewed the battery cap.  So I sent that one back and when I got the second one, same thing.  Needless to say, I was frustrated and perplexed at this point.  It turns out that when you put the batteries in the right way you have to keep turning the cap until you hear a click.  It’s possible to turn it and think it is securely on when it is in fact not on all the way.  So turn it till it CLICKS!  It now works beautifully and I felt like a dunce. Yep, that's how I felt

That’s about how I felt

Now on to how it works.  Once you get the batteries in, you just press and hold the ‘+’ sign for about a half a second.  This will start you off on the lowest steady vibration setting.  To increase the amount of vibration, just keep pressing that ‘+’ sign.  There are a total of 8 vibration power levels.  Once you get to the highest vibration level you can change from a steady vibration to one of 3 patterns.  The first pattern is an fast escalating vibration with a 1/2 second pause before it starts over again.  It’s pretty fast paced.  The second pattern is a fast pulsing (bzzz, bzzz, bzzz) and the third pattern is a super fast pulsing (bz, bz, bz, bz, bz).  To cycle through them you just keep pressing the plus button.  To go back to the steady vibrations or to turn the Bug off, press the minus button.  For quicker powering down, just press and hold the ‘-‘ button.

The vibrations range from a low mild intensity to a crazy high intensity.  I usually only use it on the fourth setting, any higher is too much for me.  If I’m using one of the patterns, it has to be during insertion and my favorite one is the escalating pattern.  The silicone on this vibe feels divine.  It’s so soft and it’s thick enough that when I press down with crazy pressure on my clit with it there isn’t any uncomfortable soreness later.  I love the feel of the bulbed nose for pinpoint clit stimulation.  The body looks like it would give more texture than it does.  Moving the Bug in and out results in very little difference between the bulges.  I think I felt the legs a little more than the bulges, but it was also pretty mild texturally speaking.  I really enjoy using this primarily for clitoral stimulation in general but it is my ABSOLUTE favorite to use with my Pure Wand.  The silicone keeps the vibrations from causing a lot of noise so I can get my clitoral stimulation while I wow my g-spot with the Pure Wand.  And, the size of the Bug makes it so it’s not awkward to multi-task with.  Speaking of multi-taking, you can also use the Bug in the shower or bath because it is completely waterproof.  So have fun with it in bed or in the shower.

To clean the Baby Bug, I recommend soap and water, as boiling could damage the motor inside.  Make sure you don’t use any silicone based lubricants and keep this silicone vibe out of contact with other silicone products to avoid damaging your adorable Bug.

This really is a great versatile vibrator to have around, though size queens and texture queens may find it lacking.  I got mine from SheVibe (who, as I post this, has it on sale for $37.99), and I highly recommend them
