Vampires are all the rage these days, so it is no surprise that the desire for these fantasy creatures has leaked over into the erotica world. Girls Who Bite is a book that focuses primarily on vampires, whether they be the stuff of legends or real people who like to bite and share blood. This is really an anthology a long time in the making, in my opinion. I’ve always been a fan of vampires and love the whole helpless-little-human in the clutches of the big-bad-…sexy…-vampire. More of my own fantasies may have tended towards the male vampire, but these stories have definitely mixed that up for me. Girls Who Bite is a collection of lesbian vampire erotica, so all male characters are periphery and all the hot action is between female characters.
The book itself is a glossy paperback book with 226 pages which includes the stories, about the author, and about the editor. The editor of the book Delilah Devlin, who has a nice list of previous publications, but who I have not read any of before. There are a total of 15 stories that range from 13 pages to 17 pages in length. I have to take a moment to admire the beautiful cover art on this book as well. Not only are the women and the colors striking, but the picture is very hot. The photographer managed to capture a banked heat of things to come that promises much from the book.
But, on to the stories! As per my usual, I picked some of my favorite stories from the group to summarize to give you a taste of what the book contains.
Dark Angel by Paisley Smith-– This is a story set in Hitler’s Berlin in 1934. Evangelina is out with her cruel husband who becomes jealous when he sees her looking across the room at a dark haired woman. Her husband drags her outside where he yells at her and eventually shoots her. The dark haired woman, Lenore, comes to her rescue and she comes to at her home. After coming to grips with the change in her Lenore introduces her to some other new things, including the joys they can find in each other. As a final welcome and celebration of their union, Lenore gives Evangelina a gift…the person who brough this fate upon her.
Dark Guard by Karis Walsh— Lisa Strecker is a sargeant for the police. Latelly, her city has been plagued by mysterious murders and the council has decided to pair her up with a vampire to help solve the case and stop the killings. Lisa doesn’t care for vampires so when she is paired with Rica she is instantly on her guard. As the two work together they begin to form a bond and to feel some attraction for one another. When they discover the identity of the serial killer both end up in trouble of one kind or another and have to rescue each other. Their searing hot sex in the woods takes them to the next level and will make you wish you were there too.
Bound Love by Christine D’Abo— Maili has been battling her vampiric nature and her cravings for a long time. She is just about to cave and take her first taste of blood since she has started trying to gain more control when her mistress, Lana, shows up. Maili knows she’s broken some rules and Lana has to punish her for her bad behavior. The sex scene that ensues is probably my favorite in the book. It has that little extra BDSM element that is so hot. There is spanking and restraint and mental control and submission. Both ladies end up getting what they want and need in the end.
Madeleine by A.E. Grace— Madeleine and Lil met as young girls and became fast friends. Lil knew from the first instant that she saw her that Madeleine was who and what she wanted. At the age of 17, their worlds changed. Both girls were changed to vampires and had to find out how to live their life as something different. They chose different paths that ended up separating them and now, 20 years later, they are finally getting together again. Will this new meeting bring love, lust, or emptiness? Can Lil embrace what and who she has become as she couldn’t before? Gotta read it to find out!
