LELO Tiani

LELO has long been known for their quality products.  They have a wide range of vibrators, dildos, cock rings, lube and more.  So when I heard they had a new set of toys coming out in their Insignia line, I was pretty excited.  And then I was lucky enough that FunWares asked me to review one! I got the the Tiani which comes in black and deep rose (mine is deep rose).  The Tiani is a couples toy intended for use during sex with a partner.

As you can see from the picture, the Tiani is similarly shaped to the We Vibe II which is also a couples sex toy.  The concept of how they work is basically the same.  You insert one arm inside the vaginal opening and the other runs up the vag and rests on the clit.  There are a couple differences in them but the biggest one is the basic operation of the Tiani which is done with a wireless remote. The We Vibe II just has a button you push on the tip of the external arm, which can be kind of a pain, especially when slippery.  As far as design and materials, there are two important differences in the these two couples toys.  The Tiani has a nice smooth velvety silicone whereas the We Vibe II is made of a shiny sticky feeling silicone. It drags against the skin a lot more than the Tiani‘s silicone and requires more lube. The other difference is that the insertable arm of the Tiani is way skinnier, and that is a huge plus in my opinion.

The Tiani is also rechargeable like the We Vibe II, but it unscrews where the metal band is to to allow for plugging in. The remote is powered by 2 AAA batteries. The vibe is waterproof so long as the end is screwed on tightly, so washing it is simple and you don’t have to worry about lube.  The Tiani comes with the charger, a ‘key’ to open the remote, a storage bag, a lube packet, and an Insignia pin.

Let’s go over how it works first and then we’ll get to how it worked for me. To turn the remote on and sycn it with the vibe, press the + signe and then press and hold the button on the vibe until it comes on. The two will sync and you will feel the vibrations in both parts (remote and vibe). There will be a pink light on each as well. Depending on how you move and twist the remote, the vibrations will increase or decrease. If you find you need a stronger or less intense vibration at any time, you can press the + or – button. There is one more button on the remote that can be pressed to cycle through different vibration settings. The settings include a steady vibration, a slow pulse, a fast pulse, a rolling pulse, a slow increasing then decreasing vibration, a varying pulse with short and long pulses of varying strength. To turn the remote off, press the – button until the light goes off and then press and hold the button on the vibe to turn it off.

All of this sounds pretty  cool, right?  I was pretty excited to give it a go…and then I started hearing things from other reviewers about their new toys not working when inserted, like the remote connection wasn’t strong enough.  All these experiences were with the other new LELO toys, the Oden and the Lyla, so I was hoping that with the shape and design of the Tiani this wouldn’t be an issue. Sadly, I was wrong. Insertion is easy and placement of the clit arm is great, but introduce a partner and things start to go pear shaped.  We could insert it and play with the remote with no problems but as soon as we tried to fuck…it was like I just stuck a small dildo on my clit with a small arm inside.   If we placed the remote on my pelvis it would start to work again, but move it away and connection was lost.  Another issue was that the small arm would easily slide out with his cock when he pulled out, which was more of an annoyance than anything.

Since it turned out to be a bit of a bust with a partner, I decided to try it solo.  I had similar problems with the signal, especially with a dildo inserted.  It seems the more I have my legs open the better range I’d get.  If my legs were closed, the remote needed to be right on my pelvis, slightly open it worked about a foot away, and fully spread, I could get to arm’s length.  For solo, I found it best to pick a pattern I liked and lay the remote on my pelvis and then play with my dildo.  Its also fun to masturbate with your partner and let them hold the remote while you play, just keep in mind how close they’ll need to be to make it work.

I mentioned the We Vibe II a bit earlier, so I want to talk about how they measure up. The We Vibe II has a few things going for it. It has two motors, so the internal arm adds some extra stimulation. The two motors also allow for more strength in the vibrations. The Tiani isn’t weak but it isn’t quite as strong at the We Vibe II. But, I never use the We Vibe II. The We Vibe II is simply too big and too ‘sticky’ for me to use with my guy. The silicone is very grabby on the skin and was almost painful, even with lube, for my well-endowed guy to rub against. The thicker arm just compounded that problem because it took up more room.

So if I have to choose one or the other?  I’m going with the Tiani. The silicone feels better, it looks pretty, has the smaller arm which allows for insertion of toys and such more easily and the remote is just pretty darn cool. I’m hoping that with all similar experiences that people are having out there that LELO will be able to correct this problem. If they do, this whole line could be freakin amazing.

Thank you to FunWares for letting me test this new product out!
