OhMiBod Freestyle W

Alright folks, I’m ready to unveil my thoughts on the OhMiBod Freestyle W at last. I’ve been testing it and testing it…and loving it!

A little about the OhMiBod Freestyle W first.  This is a rechargeable vibrator (hooray) that comes with all the tools you need to hook up to music or computers to experience the music controlled vibrations.  You also have the choice of using this without music as a straight vibe, but what’s the fun in that?  Speaking of ‘straight’ vibrators, this one has a lovely protrusion on one side, forever keeping it from truly being straight.  That’s right, this is a rabbit vibe of sorts, and my first rabbit vibe since before I started reviewing sex toys.  The (beautiful) blue body is silicone with a white plastic base.  The vibe is splash proof, not waterproof due to the port for charging or connecting your vibe directly to a music source.

The box comes with the vibe, a satin storage pouch, a charger, 3 plug-in adapters, a small cord to connect to stereos and such, and a transmitter.  The transmitter is plugged in to the source of the music and allows for wireless play.  If you want to play the music from your Ipod over speakers through your stereo, this is where the connector cord comes in.  You would plug one end of the connector cord into the stereo’s input port and the other end into the transmitter.  The transmitter would be plugged into the Ipod, and you’re all set. But there’s one more cool way to use this vibrator and that is with Skype!  You can plug the transmitter into your computer’s speaker port and then your headset into the transmitter and have fun with your Skype partner.

So how do you use it? The transmitter has a dial on the side that turns it on (it takes 2 AAA batteries that were included in the box).  A white light comes on when the transmitter is on.  You can adjust the dial to change the vibe’s sensitivity or intensity to the music being played.  I tend to like mine towards the lower side but you may need to adjust it for different songs.  If it is turned up too high, the vibrations may just translate to a steady vibe and too low, you’ll get nothing. Once you have the transmitter connected to either your Ipod or computer you can press the musical note button on the top left of the flower shaped control on the base of the vibe.  The white light around the button will flash when it is turned on and will pulse with the vibrations.  To turn it off, press the off button.

There are three other buttons to press on the control pad.  There is an up arrow, a down arrow, and a wave.  If you press the wave button it turns on the regular vibrator functions.  The up and down arrow cycle through the vibration options.  There are a total of 3 speeds and 4 patterns in this mode.  The 3 speeds are all steady vibrations and all pretty good strength wise.  For the sake of differentiating them, they are low, medium and high but low is about a 5 on the a 1 to  10 scale, medium a 7, and high a 9.  This is a really strong vibe!  Once you move past the three speeds the patterns start.  The first pattern is a slow, low pulse which is followed by medium speed and intensity pulse, and then a fast pulse.  The last pattern is a combination of 3 short pulses and a long pulse.  Of all the manual options, I found I preferred the medium steady vibration the most.

I tested the Freestyle W docked on a stereo with the transmitter connected to the Ipod and also connected through the transmitter to my laptop. Both methods worked great, as far as functionality goes. The coolest thing about this vibe is the compatibility with Skype. I have a long distance situation and both my guy and I were excited to try this out. I plugged the transmitter into the headphone jack on my laptop and then my headset into the transmitter. Once everything was turned on he started talking and the vibe started going. It reacts very easily to voice. Neither of us wanted him to have to keep talking and making noise the whole time to provide vibrations, so our solution was to have a playlist, whether it be on our itunes or on yourtube. We play the same songs, which isn’t necessary, but we like to listen to music together anyways and this way you know what your partner is hearing and kind of feeling. And then he could still talk and add even more variety to the vibrations. Its actually very cool. We really had a good time experimenting and he loves to watch me get off, so that part was fun too.

As far as songs go for the Freestyle W, I was surprised by what seemed to work better for me. If you are in convenient reach of the transmitter, you can pretty much make any song work by adjusting the intensity, but if you have the Ipod docked across the room, it can be a bit hit or miss if you don’t have a pre-made playlist. I thought that the songs that would work the best would be fast, bass heavy type songs..and they do work, but I actually found some rock songs and even some more mellow songs work pretty great too. One surprise sleeper for me was  Tori Amos’ Lady in Blue.  This is a slow and quiet type of song but something about the beginning sounds makes the Freestyle W feel like the vibrations are rolling in a wonderful way. Another song that was pretty great, though more towards the base heavy end of songs and aptly named is the Black Eyed Peas’ Feel It. Another aptly named song of a different genre that was enjoyable was Shakira’s Underneath Your Clothes, though most Shakira songs are probably pretty good for this vibe. Any song with a strong drum beat also proved fun, but to throw one more variation into the mix, I found an oldie but amazingly Freestyle W goodie. This is probably my favorite song that I tested the vibe with…and it was The Guess Who’s These Eyes. It’s kind of hard to go wrong in the song department, though some songs can feel more like a steady vibration if the transmitter isn’t set right. The only complaint I do have is that between songs the vibrations stop, so if you’re at that crucial point towards the end of the song, you could end up with a missed opportunity.

That’s pretty much it for the vibrations. The vibe itself is nice and firm, both in the main body and the smaller clit arm. That clit arm is perfectly arced, by the way. It nestles perfectly over the clit and is firm enough to allow for the kind of pressure I like on my clit. The vibe itself is 8.25 inches long and 1.5 inches in diameter. The silicone is nice and smooth with one small seam that runs down the center of the vibe, which isn’t noticeable during use. The insertable body is mostly smooth but does have two bumps on the side with the clit arm. The body of the vibe feels great sliding in and out.  The firmness allows for some very nice g-spot stimulation and great strong vibrations internally as well.  There are two motors, one for the body and one for the clit arm and the vibe is very quiet in use. The transmitter has a 25 ft range, so you can be as far from your stereo as you’ll probably need. Another bonus is that it has a 3 year manufacturer’s warranty, which I love! I’m kind of accident prone and can be hard on things, but hopefully I won’t need the warranty.

Clean up on this vibe is simple. Since it is only splash proof, I try to keep the white plastic base out of the water. I use warm water and anti-bacterial soap to clean the blue silicone portion and wipe the plastic part with a clean damp cloth if needed. A toy cleaner wipe can also be used for both parts.

I’ve really enjoyed this vibe on so many levels.  It has been fun for solo play and for long distance partner play. Babeland has four different OhMiBod vibes so if rabbit style vibes aren’t your thing but you love the idea of getting off with your music, there’s sure to be one that’s right for you.  Thank you to Babeland for providing this for review!!
